About Memrary

Memrary is a private memory book for the things you want to keep.

  • Private by default — your posts are visible only to you until you choose to share them.
  • Magic-link authentication — no passwords, ever. We send a one-time login link to your email.
  • Works everywhere — fully responsive on desktop, tablet, and phone.
  • No tracking — no analytics, no ads, no third-party scripts.
  • Markdown everywhere — write in plain text with full Markdown support.

Our philosophy

Memrary is built on a simple belief: your memories belong to you — not to an algorithm, not to an advertising platform. We built a tool that:

  • Stays private by default. Nothing leaves your account until you choose to share it. You can share entire books publicly, restrict them to named circles of people, or keep them entirely to yourself.
  • Has no ads, ever. We charge a flat subscription for extra storage. There are no ad impressions, no engagement metrics, and no third-party trackers.
  • Is a small indie project. Memrary is not backed by venture capital. It is built and maintained by a small team who use it themselves every day.
  • Respects your time. There is no infinite feed, no notifications engineered to keep you scrolling. You open your book, you write or browse, you close it.

Getting started

Create a free account at app.memrary.com/register. No password needed — we send a magic link to your email. Once in, your first book is created automatically.

Does Memrary work on mobile?

Yes — the entire interface is responsive and works on desktop, tablet, and phone. A dedicated mobile app is on the roadmap.

Creating and editing posts

Navigate to your book and click New in the action bar. Posts support text (with Markdown), photos, videos, and audio. Use the editor toolbar to format text, insert links, or add media blocks. Posts are auto-saved as drafts; publish by clicking Save.

  • Drag media blocks to reorder them.
  • Each post can have a title, date, location, and tags.
  • Set per-post privacy to override the book default.

Sharing a book & managing circles

Go to Book Settings → Circles to create named groups (e.g. "Family", "Friends"). Add members by email. Set posts to Protected to share them only with selected circles.

To share your whole book publicly, set its privacy to Public — anyone with the link can view it.

Who can see my memories?

By default, only you. You can share a book publicly (anyone with the link), or create circles to share selectively with family or friends. Individual posts can also be marked Private, Protected (circles only), or Public, independent of the book setting.

Managing your account

Visit /profile to update your display name. Your email address is the login identifier and cannot be changed here. To sign out, use the sign-out button in the profile page.

How do I log in? I don't see a password field.

Memrary uses magic-link authentication. Enter your email and we'll send you a one-time login link. No password to forget or manage.

Billing and plans

Memrary is free for personal use up to 5 GB and 3 books. For more storage and unlimited books, see our plans page →.

Is Memrary really free?

Yes — the free tier gives you 5 GB of storage and up to 3 books. That is enough for years of personal journaling. If you need more storage or unlimited books, paid plans start at $9/month. See the plans page.

What happens if I cancel my paid subscription?

Your books will remain with you. If you exceed the free quota they will be accessible in read-only mode: you and your circles can read them but you cannot add new contents unless you upgrade your quota.

Privacy and data

All your data is stored on our servers with no third-party access. We use session-only cookies and no tracking scripts. You can export or delete your data at any time. Read our full Privacy Policy →

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Book Settings → Export to download a full copy of your book at any time. You are never locked in.

How is my data stored?

All data is stored on AWS infrastructure. Backups in other regions and cloud providers are planned. We never sell or share personal data.
